INTERCONTINENTAL

THE PAVILION

Intercontinental The Pavilion was a winning submission for a design contest held by Dezeen & Bentley. The brief was to imagine the future of Bentley retail experience. The concept was done at Ultra, where I was leading the project concept creation and responsible for all the visual and detail work.

CONCEPT

The Intercontinental Pavilion for Bentley works as the handover venue for a limited series of vehicles. The customers ordering these special vehicles are invited to the pavilion temporarily located at the origins of their version of the Intercontinental series vehicle.

The frame is built from locally sourced materials by local craftspersons. When it's no longer needed, the pavilion can be dismantled without leaving a trace.

The idea behind the reflective oval shape of the exterior is to celebrate a unique location, attempting to blend in and preserve the untouched landscape. The oval roof window, surrounded by an inward-turned exterior, gently captures and diffuses light, evenly illuminating the car from above. The narrow gap in the otherwise pure exterior shape invites visitors to peek inside and discover what's within.
